The Bug This was being used at the K&K Sound booth to help demonstrate their acoustic pickups and it wasn't for sale. I was disappointed because it was fun to play and it had a unique sound. The twisty pieces around the edge had sort of a springy sound while the bars in the middle had more of a ringing tone to them. |
The Laptop Snare Rhythm Tech has come up with another interesting twist, a snare that's on inch thick and weight about a pound. It works well for brushes and light sticks. The list price is $60 and it sure beats the hell out of practice pads. |

JP Custom Cases These guys make some very nice cases for percussion. They've got conga, djembe, dumbek and many other sizes and shapes. Nikolai |
Drumspan Shell Covers Got an old drum set that sounds good but looks like crap? The people at Drumspan can help. They've got a line of fabric covers for drums that will go on without removing lugs. They have 10 different patterns to choose from K. J. Music |
Joia Tubes This is a cool tuned percussion instrument made from PVC pipes. You hit the top of the tube with a supplied beater and it makes sort of a, well, popped tube sound. Unity Through Percussion |
Tour Timp How about Timpani that you can take out of your trunk and assemble in 30 seconds? Orpheus Music, Inc. |
Rolling Thunder I really liked these Uchiwa-Daiko drums that look like skins over frames on a stick. I also thought the chromatic cymbals we're nice too. Rolling Thunder |
EMMite Drumsticks These are new drumsticks that use an "oriented polymer" technology. This produces a plastic stick that doesn't whip around like the others that you might have tried before. These sticks last about five times longer than wooden stick and they don't pass as much shock to the player. Tech-Triangle Plastic Wire Inc. |
