Kellett Aluminum Guitars This company makes strat and tele bodies out of aluminum and then anodizes them in any number of cool ways. Each finish comes out a little different so you're guaranteed to have a one of a kind instrument. P. K. Selective |
Millennium Guitars This was the year for metal guitars at the show. The Millennium Guitar consists of a front and back plate that are put together using stand offs to make the body. I didn't get to hear it but the look makes it a must on stage for any industrial/electronica act. Millennium Guitars |
Fedden Clear Acrylic Guitars It was nice see a non-wood guitar this year that wasn't made of metal. These are custom guitars hand made from acrylic. You can get wood, graphite or acrylic necks and there were a some that had colored translucent pickguards that looked beautiful. |
Chrysalis Inflatable Guitars These guys have come up with a new approach to travel guitars. They've got a guitar that's held together by the tension of the strings and a body that inflates. It breaks down into four pieces: the neck; the left side; the right side; and the head/tail piece with the strings attached. Chrysalis Guitar Company |
Warrior Guitars After four strings came five, then there were six, following that insanity. I had started to take notice of seven string basses popping up this year, I stopped looking when I ran into this nine string bass. Warrior Instruments |
McSwain Guitars You can have your favorite person carved into the body of a guitar. I don't know why you'd want to do this but I suppose that it's good that you could. McSwain Guitars, Inc. |
Traveler Guitar Here's yet another take on the backpack guitar idea. This one has a full size fret board and the little piece that lets you set the guitar on your knee comes off to allow for tighter packing. They also have a unique thing called the Stethophone Headset. This is apparently some sort of acoustic headset that hooks into the guitar and doesn't require any electricity to operate. I didn't get to hear this but it does sound intriguing. Traveler Guitar |
Voodoo Bass The voodoo bass line uses the Novax fanned fret system (see last years NAMM Oddities). Dingwall has built some very nice basses around this system and have done a thorough design job from the bottom up from subplate to strings. Dingwall Designer Guitars |
