Knucklehead Strings I'm speechless… almost. How can you go wrong with string sets using names like Super Mullet and Red Headed Stepchild? As you can see, they also have single strings available as well. Knucklehead Music, LC |
Neck Socks Odd looking, yes, but functional. For those of us who keep their stringed instruments on stands or on the wall, using these can help keep your instrument clean and make your strings last longer. I live near the beach, so the strings around here get bad pretty quickly. Happy Necks, LLC |
Bad Ass Music Stands Like the name says, these are bad ass stands. You can load them up with a ton of crap and they aren't going anywhere. Having used a laptop in a live gig, I was always paranoid about the places I had to put it. One of these stands would be ideal. Action Engineering |
Blackjack Table Amp Ashdown is no stranger to the Oddites and has had several excellent entries in past years. This is a custom job that Ashdown did for a Las Vegas casino. Ashdown Design & Marketing |
Sax Rax Sax Rax makes both highly functional, modular saxophone stands as well some beautiful stands that would help with the aesthetics problem of having axes lying around the house. Sax Rax |
Jellifish Pick This year's most original pick award goes to the Jellifish. While I don't see this as a replacement for a traditional pick, it does produce a totally different tonal texture. I bought one just to have around the studio. Jellifish was also showing some nice anodized aluminum pegs. Jellifish, Inc. |
El Dorado Pick Guard El Dorado makes some nice hand-tooled leather guitar straps, but what really caught my eye were their leather pick guards. No country swing band should be without them. El Dorado Guitar Accessories |
Gig-FX Chopper This pedal is a cool crossbreed of a tremelo, leslie, auto-panner, and rotovibe. It's a crossbreed in the sense that you don't just get some preset effects to play with, you get some unique combinations with interesting parameters controlled by the treadle. Gig-FX, Inc. |
The Whappo Grande Sporting a 21-inch speaker, this cabinet will extend down to fequencies that you can only feel. It only goes up to around 400 Hz so you will need to use this in conjunction with another amp. AccuGroove |
Monster Collection Picks Hot Picks have some new horror-influenced picks. They've got skulls, a devil, and a wolfman. And to keep the picks in style you'll need to get yourself one of these skull pick holders. What could be scarier than a skull with a devil up its nose? Hot Picks USA |
Cargo Cases Here we have band instrument cases that are a cross between hardshell and softside cases. There should be plenty of room for all the little junk that you end up needing for the instrument. Conn-Selmer, Inc. |
Moollon Pedals These Korean-made pedals are all housed in beautiful engraved aluminum boxes. They have modeled many of these on vintage effects like the Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face and the Hendrix Octavio. Moollon Musical Instrument |
AxeTrak This approach to the "my guitar amp's too damned loud" problem consists of building a custom speaker and a custom mic into a small sealed box. I thought it sounded pretty good while checking it out over headphones at the show. It's also got a port that the seven string/detune crowd will appreciate. They also have a bass version and cabinets that have one of these built in along with regular speakers to give you a direct out. JLH Products |
THG Exotic Wood Knobs Not only does THG produce these beautiful knobs and tuners, they also make pickup rings and toggle switch caps to match. They can also make custom pieces to your specifications. THG Knobs |
Damage Control Demonizer Damage Control combines multiple tubes and DSP into a class A pedal. You also get your own miniature light show with their "magic eye" there at the top. If you'd like something with a little less over the top distortion than the Demonizer, they've got another pedal called the Womanizer. Maybe that one makes you sound like Jennifer Batten. Damage Control Engineering, LLC |
Scott Dixon Aluminum Cases This is likely the lightest full stack I've ever seen, most of the weight was the magnets on the speakers. I was also impressed with the guitar cases. Where a similar Anvil-style case would weigh 30+ lbs., this one was only 11 lbs. If you like these, you should check out their drumset that I saw as well. LS Enterprise LTD |
The O-Tray Here's a handy little jobber that snaps on to any standard 7/8" mic stand. It's made from plastic with a rubber inner ring to keep it locked on the stand. OCI |
Trailer Trash Pedal Boards Now you can get a boutique pedal board for all your boutique pedals. They offer some standard models as well as complete custom jobs that include through-board wiring. Trailer Trash Pedalboards |
Pigtronix Envelope Phaser I've done envelope phasing (among many other things) by patching together multiple Mooger Fooger pedals and it's a very cool effect. Pigtronix has boiled it down to one pedal for a whole lot less money. Pigtronix |
Double Rolling Sax Case For any sax players who routinely double at gigs, this would be a great case to have. What would be really cool would be a center section for a flute. PJLA Music |
The Spinslide A new twist (sorry for the pun) on the guitar slide. With a little practice, you can whip the slide around back and free up your hand for chording. This also means you don't necessarily need to use your little finger for the slide. It comes with four interchangeable plastic rings to allow for different size fingers.
