Double Neck Acoustic And now for something completely different… I've seen quite a few multi-necked guitars but this is the first one I've seen with a neck on either side. L. Benito, USA |
Pirate Dogs & The artwork on these two guitars both had different images on the front and back. The back of the pig guitar pretty well leaves me speechless AOFA Group |
Dimebag Darrel Tribute Dean Guitars is involved with an art project/tribute to Dimebag Darrell. The exhibit will be touring the country and the guitars will then be auctioned off to raise money for music education. Armadillo Enterprises, Inc. |
Rambler Resonator Big Heart sells these resonator guitars made by Larry Pogreba that use actual hubcaps in their construction. BigHeart Slide Company |
Nightmares in Wood These look like they should be characters in some horror flick. I can only imagine how much time these take to carve. Halo Guitars |
Mirrored Flames This year Minarik was showing a broken mirror version of their Inferno guitar. Minarik Guitars |
Dip Into DiPinto DiPinto was displaying the Africa-shaped guitar that the Live Aid 8 people comissioned them to make. They didn't do the serpentine neck though. I was also quite taken by the round rocker switches on their Galaxie 4 guitar. They are a perfect match for the metalflake finish. DiPinto Guitars |
Alien Headless Guitar Even though this looks like some sort of special 3-D process it's just a very well executed airbrush job. Custom Luthier |
Face Off A slight change of angle and the scary looking guy turns into an even scarier skeleton. This guitar is only
recommended for really scary bands. California Guitars |
Pricey Pair Mad Professor Amps had one of their amps and a matching guitar from Ruokangas on display. The pair sells for a mere $36,000. Mad Professor Amplifications |
Strumming Nemo Clownfish or goldfish with a built-in amplifier? Now that's a tough decision. Goldfish Guitars |
Vampira Lives For a mainstream company, Schecter seems to always find a way to make the Oddities. This tribute to 50s TV horror movie hostess Vampira is a prime example of their offbeat take. There must be a serious horror buff at Schecter because they had a Dawn of the Dead guitar at NAMM back in 2002. Schecter Guitar Research |
Karendola & Sliding Pickup Bass The Karendola is a mandolin of sorts but it's only got three doubled strings. The 6-string fretless bass has an interesting feature with it's sliding pickup. Walk on Water has some other Oddities entries on the Instruments page. Walk On Water Musical Instruments |
The Delta Wing Gary Kramer, the founder of Kramer Guitars, is out on his own again and doing interesting things. Gary Kramer Guitar |
Pin-up Guitar Clayton was displaying this custom guitar to promote their Playboy-licensed picks and straps. It looks like they try to cover al the bases because they also have a Christian line of picks sporting Jesus, an angel, a cross, and a crown of thorns. Steve Clayton, Inc. |
Engraved Guitar Modelled after the work of British luthier Tony Zemaitis, this company is producing some gorgeous engraved guitars. Zemantis International |
Translucent Lap Steel What would the NAMM Oddities be without some sort of translucent instrument to feature? I don't believe I've seen a lap steel done up before. Guahgzhou Sunpost |
Liramay Bass If batman were to make a bass, it would be shaped like this. It would be black, but it'd still be shaped like this. Mike Curry Guitars and Basses |
Metal Faced Guitar This guitar had an interesting metal face with ridges. California Guitars |
Shark Guitar I normally wouldn't post such a blurry picture in the Oddities but this was just too good to pass up. Bridgecraft USA |
